Historically what has come after Christianity? Logic? Dis-passionate reason? Or a new brand of religion? I argue it is the latter. It has its own dogma, its own Elect, and it is alarmingly self-righteous. One of the more fascinating aspects of post-religious religion is that it is ardently post-logical. You’d think that as a sophisticated ideology that post-Christian religion would be utterly committed to facts; herein lies the amazing irony. This thinking has moved beyond mere fideism and for all of its opposition to organized religion, it is not about thinking logically.
What does Hinduism teach that is the fundamental problem confronting the human race? What is the solution to that problem? How do the answers to those questions square with a Christian worldview? What's wrong with Yoga? How might one ask a Hindu good and respectful questions?
Why am I a Christian? Just why do I believe? This is the first half of a two-part delineation of why I embrace the Christian worldview. I speak variously to spiritual, existential, and philosophical issues that are profound for me. To that end I describe an automobile accident I was in, why and that beauty is so gripping to me, and what the Bible has to say about human nature.
